Guy finished his bottle and set it down. His pale blue eyes studied something off in the woods. “Them people never moved. They were never paid.” he looked over at Derek. “Chief them folks were killed and buried. Buried out there in the mud. I know where.”

“Guy, there were a total of thirty families that showed they were paid five hundred dollars each to relocate from Heaven. That’s at least sixty people!”

Guy shook his head. “Well over a hundred Chief. They even killed babies. Didn’t matter as long as Heaven was white.”

“Who?” Derek asked “Who did the killing?”

“All of them, not all at once. Grand pappy Kellogg, did a lot. But the others out there on Heritage Drive took part. Course it was their grand pappy that did it. That was a seventy-five years ago. Probably went on even before that. Now, what the heck can you do about it today?”
